Hosepipe ban exemptions for businesses

Businesses are generally exempt from a hosepipe ban (Temporary Use Ban) as long as the water is used directly for commercial or professional purposes.

How the ban affects businesses

Using a hosepipe for non-business, domestic tasks at a commercial property, such as watering the grounds and gardens, is prohibited.

You are allowed to use a hosepipe if this directly relates to the day-to-day running of your business, excluding the watering of gardens.

There are restrictions on business customers using a hosepipe if it’s not specifically for business needs.

We ask all businesses to be mindful of their water use and, even where an exemption may apply, to use water efficiently to help protect resources and the environment.

Business exemptions

If using a hosepipe can’t be reasonably avoided, there are certain exemptions to the hosepipe ban.
